Who they were
Near the city of Marrakesh in present-day Morocco, the passion of the holy martyrs Berard, Otho and Peter, priests, and Accursius and Adjutus, religious, of the Order of Friars Minor: sent by Saint Francis to proclaim the Gospel of Christ to the Muslims, they were captured at Seville and taken to Marrakesh, and by order of the leader of the Moors they were run through with the sword.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 16 January as a Franciscan religious put to the sword at Marrakesh for preaching the Gospel.
