Adelgard Bönigk

Who they were

Adelgard Bönigk, Agathe Euphemia in the world, was born on 5 February 1900 at Altmark, now Stary Targ, in the district of Stuhm. She was seized when Red Army soldiers entered Rastenburg, now Kętrzyn, on 27 January 1945. Pope Leo XIV beatified her on 31 May 2025.

She was tied by the feet to a vehicle and dragged through the streets of the town until she died.
