Who they were
Adeodatus II, pope from 672 to 676, had been a monk of the Roman monastery of St Erasmus on the Caelian Hill.
He worked for the perfection of monastic discipline and against the Monothelite heresy. Little else is known of him.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A monk-pope who guarded monastic life and the true faith in Christ.
