Who they were
Aedh Dubh, King of Leinster, gave up his throne about 592 and entered the great monastery of Kildare, where he served God for forty-eight years.
He became successively abbot and, about 630, Bishop of Kildare, and died in 639.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
