Who they were
In the same place, Saint Aedesius, martyr, who was the brother of Saint Appian and who, under the emperor Maximinus, having openly rebuked the judge for handing over some virgins consecrated to God to exploiters, was for this arrested by the soldiers, subjected to torture and finally drowned in the sea for Christ the Lord.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 9 April as a martyr drowned in the sea for rebuking a judge who handed consecrated virgins over to exploiters.
