Who they were
Livia Pietrantoni was born and baptised at Pozzaglia Sabina, in the hills between Rieti and Tivoli, on 27 March 1864, second of eleven children of small farmers, in a home where 'everyone tried to do good and prayed often'.
As Sister Agostina of the Sisters of Charity of St Jeanne-Antide Thouret she served the sick at Rome's Santo Spirito hospital, first in the children's ward, recovering miraculously from a deadly infection. Not yet thirty, she was stabbed to death by one of the patients she cared for.

A hospital nun killed by a patient she served, who proclaimed God by her service.
