Who they were

Agostino Roscelli was born at Bargone di Casarza Ligure near Genoa on 27 July 1818 to a poor family, and as a boy kept his father's sheep. He was ordained priest on 19 September 1846 by Cardinal Placido Maria Tadini.

As curate at San Martino d'Albaro and then as a confessor and chaplain he gave himself to the young and the poor of Genoa. In October 1876 he founded the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception to educate girls. He died on 7 May 1902.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in his cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A humble parish priest and confessor whose charity for poor girls grew into a religious family devoted to their education.
