Who they were
Agricius was Bishop of Trier in the fourth century. A ninth-century local tradition says he had been Patriarch of Antioch and was transferred to Trier by Pope Sylvester at the Empress Helena's request.
He attended the Council of Arles in 314. Under him the schools of Trier became famous, and St Athanasius, exiled there, found great numbers of faithful and many churches being built. Local tradition says he brought to Trier the Holy Coat and the body of St Matthias.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
