Agustín Bermejo Miranda
Diocesan priest of Avila, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Agustín Bermejo Miranda was born on 10 April 1904 in the village of Puerto Castilla near Avila and was ordained priest in 1926, serving as an army chaplain and in several parishes; the decree calls him humble, simple, hard-working in his apostolate and generous in charity. While he was parish priest of El Hoyo de Pinares he was put to death on 28 August 1936, and he was beatified on 13 October 2013 by Pope Francis.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The decree says he and his companions knew that their faith and their priesthood were the reason they would be condemned, and they went on all the same.
