Alanus de Rupe
Dominican theologian

Who they were
Alain de la Roche was born about 1428, probably in Brittany, entered the Dominicans and studied at Saint-Jacques in Paris. From 1459 to 1475 he taught at Paris, Lille, Douai, Ghent and Rostock, where he became Master of Theology in 1473.
A renowned preacher, he regarded the preaching and re-establishment of the Rosary as his special mission, and spread it with success through northern France, Flanders and the Netherlands. He died at Zwolle on 8 September 1475.
The miracles
He is honoured as Blessed by long-standing veneration confirmed by the Church; the Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe a formal cause.

A Dominican who gave his life to restoring the Rosary.
