Who they were
Father Alberto María (Francisco Marco Alemán) was born at Caudete, in the province of Albacete, on 23 May 1894. He made his vows in the Carmelite Order in 1910 and was ordained priest in 1917. He was superior at the shrine of Our Lady of El Henar in Cuéllar, a leader and teacher in his Order, and prior of the Madrid community, where he was known as a confessor who cared for the poor.
He was arrested on 31 August 1936 and shot at Paracuellos de Jarama on 24 November 1936. Pope Benedict XVI declared him a martyr in 2011, and he was beatified at Tarragona on 13 October 2013 with eight young Carmelite companions.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
Called the Apostle of the Carmelite Order in Old Castile, he leads a group of nine Carmelite martyrs of 1936 beatified in 2013.
