Alexander of Fiesole

Who they were

In the territory of Bologna, the passing of Saint Alexander, bishop of Fiesole, who, returning from Pavia where he had claimed back before the king of the Lombards the goods of his Church that had been taken from it, was thrown by them into the river and drowned.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 6 June as the bishop of Fiesole who was drowned in the river after reclaiming the goods of his Church from the king of the Lombards.
