Who they were
At the place called Caaró in Paraguay, Saints Roque González and Alfonso Rodríguez Olmedo, priests of the Society of Jesus and martyrs, who brought the dispossessed native peoples close to Christ by founding the villages called reductions, in which work and social life were freely joined with the values of Christianity, and for this were killed in an ambush by the hired killer of a sorcerer.

Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 November as a Jesuit missionary of the Paraguay reductions killed with Saint Roque González at Caaró.
