Who they were
Alfredo Dall'Oglio was a layman born at Borgo Valsugana in Italy on 6 July 1921 and baptised four days later; his family emigrated and settled at Romainville, where he took a full part in parish life, became an errand boy in a chemist's shop and joined the Young Christian Workers, at that time only four members strong in the parish. Recruited for the compulsory labour service in March 1943 and sent to Berlin, he was arrested there with seven other Catholic Action leaders on 9 June 1944 and died in Berlin on 31 October 1944, aged 23. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.
