Who they were
Motsch was a Brother of the Christian Schools who taught and worked with young men in Paris, drawing them to the nocturnal adoration at Montmartre, and died of a progressive paralysis contracted during the war. The Institute gives his death as 16 April 1898, not 6 April as the Hagiography Circle has it.

No miracle has been approved. The decree on heroic virtues has been promulgated; a miracle would come next.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Brothers' generalate lists him among the Lasallian holy men as Venerable Brother Alpert Motsch; his cause opened on 14 May 1929 and the decree on his heroic virtues was promulgated on 12 January 1996.
