Alpheius of Caesarea

Who they were

At Caesarea in Palestine, Saints Alpheius and Zacchaeus, martyrs, who, in the first year of the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian, for having firmly confessed that there is only one God and that Christ Jesus is King, suffered the sentence of death after many torments.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 17 November as a martyr at Caesarea in Palestine under Diocletian, put to death for confessing one God and Christ as King.
