Who they were

At Suzuta in Japan, Blessed Ambrósio Fernandes, martyr: having gone to the East driven by the pursuit of profit, he was later admitted as a religious into the Society of Jesus and, after suffering many privations, died in prison for Christ.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 7 January as a Jesuit religious and martyr who died in prison at Suzuta in Japan.
