Who they were
Amos, the third of the Minor Prophets of the Old Testament, was a herdsman of Tekoa, a village of the southern kingdom twelve miles south of Jerusalem, and a dresser of sycamore trees; there is no ground for thinking him wealthy.
While following his flock in the wilderness of Judah, he was called by God to prophesy to the northern kingdom of Israel.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: the prophets of the Old Testament are honoured in the Church's calendar and martyrology.
Why that counted as sanctity
A shepherd called by God to speak his word of justice to Israel.
