Anastasius of Cluny

Who they were

At Pamiers near the Pyrenees, also in France, Saint Anastasius, monk, who, born in Venice, first led a hermit's life on the island of Rocher de Tombelaine near Mont-Saint-Michel, then a monastic life at Cluny, and finally withdrew into solitude in his last years.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 16 October as a Venetian-born monk who lived as a hermit at Tombelaine, then at Cluny, and ended his life in solitude.
