Andrew Fournet
Founder of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Cross

Who they were
André-Hubert Fournet was born at Saint-Pierre-de-Maillé, near Poitiers, on 6 December 1752. Ordained, he was curate to his uncle at Haims and then parish priest of Saint-Phèle de Maillé.
In the French Revolution he refused the schismatic oath and was several times close to being put to death, yet went on comforting the faithful. When peace returned, he founded with St Jeanne-Élisabeth Bichier des Ages the Daughters of the Cross. He died in 1834.
