Who they were
Ángel Alonso Escribano was born on 18 January 1897 in the village of Valdunciel, in the province and diocese of Salamanca, was ordained priest in 1921 and belonged to the Fraternity of Diocesan Worker Priests.
He was killed at Barranco del Chisme, near the town of Enix in the province of Almería on 30 August 1936, and was beatified on 25 March 2017 by Pope Francis, among the companions of José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre.
