Who they were
Aniela Salawa was born on 9 September 1881 at Siepraw near Kraków, the eleventh of twelve children, and was taught the faith by her mother.
A laywoman of the Third Order of St Francis, she chose to spend her whole life working as a domestic servant, living humbly among the maids. She died in absolute poverty in St Zita's hospital, Kraków, on 12 March 1922.
