Who they were
Francesco Paoli was born on 1 September 1642 at Argigliano, near Casola in Lunigiana, to a modest Christian family. With his brother Tommaso he joined the Carmelites, taking the name Angelo.
Though qualified as a lector, he spent his life mainly in humble, hidden service, known for obedience, observance and great charity to the poor; he embodied the corporal works of mercy in Rome. He died there with a reputation for holiness on 20 January 1720.

Suffering from a severe uterine prolapse with bleeding that stopped her walking, and unable to find the doctor, she stopped and suddenly felt herself healed after invoking Angelo Paoli.
