Aniceta Skibowski

Who they were

Aniceta Skibowski, Clara Anna in the world, was born on 12 August 1882 at Groß Bertung, now Bartąg, in the district of Allenstein, and worked as a nurse in the service of the parish of Heilsberg, now Lidzbark Warmiński. She was killed on 2 February 1945 when Red Army soldiers broke into the convent. Pope Leo XIV beatified her on 31 May 2025.

As a martyr she was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

She was shot at point-blank range for resisting a Soviet colonel who tried to rape her.
