Who they were
At Nagasaki in Japan, Saint Anthony González, priest of the Order of Preachers and martyr, who, sent to Japan with five companions and arrested shortly afterwards, was twice subjected to the torture of water and, taken with fever, went before the others in death under the supreme commander Tokugawa Yemitsu.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 24 September as a Dominican priest sent to Japan who was twice given the torture of water and died of fever before his companions at Nagasaki.
