Antoine Chevrier
French presbyter (1826–1879)
Feast: 2 October (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Antoine Chevrier was born at Lyon on 16 April 1826 to a modest family and was ordained in 1850. He began as curate in a working-class parish on the edge of the city.
In 1856, praying before the crib, he grasped the poverty of God made man. He founded the Work of Providence of the Prado to prepare priests to teach the Christian faith to poor young people. He died on 2 October 1879 after a long illness.
The miracles
The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.
