Who they were
Antoine Daniel was born at Dieppe on 27 May 1601 and entered the Society of Jesus in Rome in 1621. Sent to Canada in 1633, he ran a school for Native boys at Quebec for two years and from 1634 worked in the Huron mission.
On 4 July 1648 the Iroquois attacked the mission at Teanaostaye while most of the Huron warriors were away. He did all he could for his people and was killed there.
