Antonio González Alonso
Young layman of the Nocturnal Adoration, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Antonio González Alonso was born on 11 April 1912 in the parish of Santiago de Nembra, and wished to become a Dominican friar like his brother, but an attack of tuberculosis obliged him to return to his family. Those who knew him described him as a good, pleasant, gentle and studious young man; like his father Severino he belonged to the Nocturnal Adoration, he helped Don Genaro with the Tarsicios, the children's section of the Spanish Nocturnal Adoration, and he was preparing to become a teacher.
He was beatified on 8 October 2016 by Pope Francis, among the Spanish martyrs of Nembra.
