Antonio Grassi

Who they were

Antonio Grassi was born in Fermo, Italy, on 13 November 1592. At seventeen he joined the Oratorians of Saint Philip Neri at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fermo, and he celebrated his first Mass on 17 December 1617.

In 1635 he became superior of the Fermo Oratory and remained so until his death. Called the 'public peacemaker' for settling quarrels, he gave himself to the poor, sold his goods for charity and went each year on pilgrimage to Loreto. He died on 13 December 1671 and was beatified by Leo XIII on 30 September 1900.
