Antonio Montañés Chiquero

Who they were

Antonio Montañés Chiquero was born at Alcalá la Real on 17 June 1870 and ordained a priest on 27 May 1893; he served as assistant parish priest at Castillo de Locubín and then as parish priest of Las Riveras, of Charilla, of Villacarrillo and finally of Santa María at Alcalá la Real, and was killed on 12 September 1936. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV among the 124 martyrs of Jaén.
