Antonio Trancho Andrés

Who they were

Antonio Trancho Andrés was born at Becerril de Campos on 9 December 1900, made solemn profession and was ordained priest in 1925. He looked after the training of young Dominicans and was novice master when he was killed in 1936; Pope Francis beatified him on 18 June 2022.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

He was put to death in 1936 in the persecution in Spain, and the Church recognised his death as martyrdom.
