Who they were
At Córdoba in Andalusia in Spain, Saint Argemir, martyr, who, a monk now of advanced age, during the persecution of the Moors under the reign of Muhammad I, received from the judge the order to deny Christ and, remaining firm in confessing his faith, was placed alive on the rack and run through with the sword.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 28 June as an aged monk of Córdoba who refused to deny Christ and was racked and put to the sword.
