Kidnapped by the ERP guerrillas in August 1974 and held for 372 days, he refused to hand over explosives formulas and is remembered for forgiving his captors.

The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints granted the nihil obstat in March 2023 and Bishop Santiago Olivera of the Argentine Military Ordinariate set up the tribunal and began the instruction of the cause in 2023 (decree OCA 56/2023), examining his death as a martyrdom.
