Who they were
Jules-Nicolas Rèche was born on 2 September 1838 at Landroff, in the diocese of Metz, the first of nine children of a poor but believing family. He joined the Brothers of the Christian Schools as Brother Arnould.
He taught at Reims for fourteen years and from 1877 was master of novices at Thillois, forming young religious with firmness, understanding and humility. From 1889 illness wore him down, and he died in 1890.
