Who they were

At Antinoë in the Thebaid, in Egypt, Saint Ascla, martyr, who before the governor did not fear his threats, because his greatest concern was not to deny Christ, and after tortures of various kinds he was thrown into the river.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 20 January as a martyr at Antinoë in Egypt who was tortured and thrown into the river rather than deny Christ.
