Who they were
Assunta Marchetti was born at Lombrici di Camaiore, near Lucca, on 15 August 1871. At her brother Fr Giuseppe Marchetti's request she followed him to Brazil to care for the orphans of Italian emigrants, and co-founded the Missionary Sisters of St Charles Borromeo, the Scalabrinian Sisters, who serve migrants.
She gave her life to orphans, the sick and migrants, and died in the orphanage in São Paulo on 1 July 1948.

Heraclides Teixeira Filho — Porto Alegre, Brazil — January 1994
A man with severe heart and circulatory complications was healed instantly and permanently during emergency heart surgery at the Hospital Mãe de Deus in Porto Alegre.
Why that counted as sanctity
The case of Heraclides Teixeira Filho was examined by the Church's doctors and theologians and approved as a miracle on 9 October 2013, opening the way to beatification. Beatification followed on 25 October 2014.
