Who they were
At Naples, Saint Athanasius, bishop, who, after suffering much from his impious nephew Sergius, was driven from his see and passed to heaven, afflicted by tribulations, at Veroli among the Hernican mountains in Lazio.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 15 July as a bishop of Naples driven from his see by his nephew Sergius, who died at Veroli.
