Who they were
Atto, born at Badajoz in Spain, became Abbot of Vallombrosa in 1105 and Bishop of Pistoia in 1135.
He wrote lives of St John Gualbert and St Bernard of Parma, and brought relics of St James of Compostela to Pistoia. He died on 22 May 1155.

The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe how he came to be honoured as a saint.
