Austromoine
3rd century founding Bishop of Clermont

Who they were
Austremonius is honoured as the apostle and first Bishop of Auvergne (Clermont). St Gregory of Tours numbers him among seven bishops sent from Rome into Gaul; he most likely lived in the early fourth century. He was not a martyr.
In the sixth century the deacon Cantius saw a vision of angels about his neglected tomb at Issoire, and from then on he was honoured there; his relics were later moved to Volvic and to Mauzac.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
