Who they were
Barthelemy Bruguiere of the Paris Foreign Missions Society was appointed in 1831 the first Vicar Apostolic of Korea and died in Manchuria in 1835 before reaching the country; his remains were reburied in Seoul in 1931.

The Holy See granted the nihil obstat in 2023 and the Archdiocese of Seoul's canonisation committee opened the diocesan preliminary inquiry court for his beatification on 13 December 2024.
