Who they were
At Corinth in the region of Achaia in Greece, Saint Leonidas and seven companions, martyrs, who, after suffering various torments, were drowned in the sea.
Their names are: Saints Charissa, Galina, Theodora, Nica, Nunechia, Callida and Basilissa.
Among those named is Saint Basilissa.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 16 April among the seven companions of Saint Leonidas who were tortured and drowned in the sea at Corinth.
