Who they were
Serafino Morazzone was born in Milan on 1 February 1747, the third of four children of a poor family; his mother died when he was a boy. He cherished his vocation from childhood.
Ordained in 1773, he went straight to Chiuso, near Lecco, and was its parish priest from 1773 until his death in 1822. He was the confessor of Alessandro Manzoni.

The premature baby, in a very precarious state, was extraordinarily healed of a serious atresia of the digestive tract after prayers to the Venerable Servant of God.
Why that counted as sanctity
A village parish priest who spent fifty years in quiet, faithful service of one small flock.
