Who they were
Benedetta Cambiagio was born at Langasco near Genoa on 2 October 1791 and grew up in Pavia, formed in a deep faith and a determined character.
Married, she and her husband freely gave up married life for God. Miraculously healed through St Jerome Emiliani, she took up the care of girls with her bishop's blessing and founded the Benedictine Sisters of Providence to form poor and abandoned girls in the Christian life.
