Who they were
In the monastery of Tiron near Chartres in France, Saint Bernard, abbot, who repeatedly gave himself to the hermit life in the woods and on the island of Chausey, but also devoted himself to teaching and guiding towards Gospel perfection the disciples who flocked to him in great numbers.

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 14 April as an abbot of Tiron who lived as a hermit and guided many disciples to Gospel perfection.
