Bernhard Lichtenberg
German Roman Catholic priest, theologian, martyr and blessed (1875–1943)

Who they were
Bernhard Lichtenberg was born at Ohlau in Silesia on 3 December 1875 and ordained in Breslau on 21 June 1899. From 1900 he served in Berlin.
Seeing the grave crimes being committed against the dignity of God and of man, he prayed publicly for the Jews, who were being inhumanly persecuted and imprisoned. For this he was arrested, and on the way to Dachau he died on 5 November 1943, worn out by ill-treatment but fearless in Christ.
