Bertrand of Comminges

Who they were

At Comminges, also on the French side of the Pyrenees, Saint Bertrand, bishop, who, at the direction of Pope Saint Gregory VII, worked strenuously for the reform of the Church, restored his city, ruined by the neglect of time, and entirely rebuilt the cathedral, where he established canons regular under the discipline of Saint Augustine.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 16 October as a bishop of Comminges who worked for Church reform, restored his city and rebuilt its cathedral.
