Burchard I
Bishop of Würzburg

Who they were
Burchard, born in England of Anglo-Saxon parents, went to Germany after their deaths to help his countryman St Boniface. St Boniface consecrated him first Bishop of Würzburg, probably in 741.
He took part in the first German synod in 742, spread and strengthened the Faith in his new diocese, and reported to Rome on the Church in Franconia in 748. He died before St Boniface, most probably in 754.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A missionary bishop who helped St Boniface plant the Church in Germany.
