Who they were
Cesare Baronius, of humble parents at Sora, was a man of deep religious spirit, charity and humble obedience. He wrote the Annales Ecclesiastici, earning the title 'Father of Church History', and revised the Roman Martyrology.
Made a cardinal, he died at Rome on 30 June 1607, leaving a reputation for profound holiness.

The Catholic Encyclopedia does not describe his cause beyond his being declared Venerable.
