Carlo Gnocchi

Who they were
Carlo Gnocchi was born at San Colombano al Lambro near Milan on 25 October 1902 and ordained on 6 June 1925. His care for young people led to his appointment in 1936 as spiritual director of the Gonzaga Institute.
A military chaplain, after the war he founded the Pro Juventute work, today the Fondazione Don Gnocchi, to care for the child victims of war and redeem their 'innocent suffering'.

The decree on the miracle for his beatification was promulgated on 17 January 2009; the biography does not describe it.
Why that counted as sanctity
A war chaplain who turned what he saw into a lifelong work for maimed and orphaned children.
