Who they were
Carmela Godoy Calvache was born on 12 September 1888 at Albufera de Adra. She was a laywoman and a widow.
She was killed on 1 January 1937 beside the estuary of her native place, and Pope Francis beatified her on 25 March 2017 among José Álvarez-Benavides de la Torre and 114 companions, diocesan priests and lay faithful killed between 1936 and 1938.
